SOCRATES SCHOLARS INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH NETWORK (SSIRN) : Privacy and Member Rights Policy

At SSIRN, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment that upholds the rights and privacy of all our members. To ensure a harmonious and productive experience within our community, we have established the following policies and guidelines:

  1. Respect for Privacy:
    • Confidentiality: Members are expected to treat all personal and sensitive information shared by other members with the utmost confidentiality. This includes but is not limited to contact information, research, and intellectual property. Unauthorized sharing of such information is strictly prohibited.
  2. Respect for Intellectual Property:
    • Ownership: Members’ intellectual property remains their own, including research findings, publications, and creative works. Respect for the intellectual property rights of other members is paramount. Unauthorized use, distribution, or reproduction of such works without explicit permission is strictly prohibited.
  3. Civil Discourse and Respect:
    • Respectful Communication: Members should engage in respectful and constructive communication. Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or any form of abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. Disagreements should be expressed in a civil and respectful manner.
  4. Consent for Sharing:
    • Explicit Consent: Before sharing any member’s work or content outside of SSIRN, you must obtain explicit consent from the content creator, acknowledging their rights and wishes.
  5. Reporting Violations:
    • Reporting Misconduct: If you witness or experience any violation of these policies, please report it to the SSIRN administration promptly. We take such reports seriously and will take appropriate action.
  6. Moderation and Enforcement:
    • Enforcement: SSIRN administrators reserve the right to enforce these policies by warning, suspending, or terminating the membership of any member found in violation. Enforcement actions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  7. Continuous Education:
    • Awareness: SSIRN will conduct periodic educational programs and share resources to raise awareness about these policies, member rights, and privacy.
  8. Revision of Policies:
    • Periodic Review:** These policies and guidelines will be periodically reviewed and updated to reflect evolving community needs and best practices.

By participating in SSIRN, you acknowledge your agreement to adhere to these policies and guidelines. We believe that these principles are essential to create a supportive and respectful scholarly environment within our network.
